Unusual Occurrence
It is gratifying to note here that there was no unusual occurrence during the 2007-2008.
Escape of patients
The recent trend in psychiatry is to allow maximum freedom of movement to patients, as it has been seen that when patients are kept locked up or under any form of restraint, they get highly excited and unmanageable. This principle has been maintained at this hospital and patients are neither restrained nor allowed to be locked up inside the rooms. The wards are always kept open and thus the atmosphere of the hospital has completely changed. Injuries and assaults have become rare. Beside this, there are number of patients who have recovered and are practically sane but unfortunately their guardians/prison authorities are reluctant to take them back inspite of our repeated reminders to the families and prison authorities.
