Basic Amenities for the Patients

Potable water is supplied to each ward. All the wards have water cooler, Colour T.V., Indoor and outdoor games.

There is seperate patients Library in male and female sections of this institute.

Provision of Indoor games like Carrom, Ludo, Playing cards etc. are in the wards.

Provision of Outdoor game – patients are encouraged to take part in football, volleyball in the male section and ring game in the female section. Patients are also encouraged to take part in flower and kitchen garden around their wards.

Patients also take part in cultural activities like music, recitation etc.

Action aid workers have been made responsible for nearly 30 dull and apathetic female patients  to make them active and social and these patients are showing gradual response.

Food

Patients are given nourishing diet. Egg, milk, are given routinely besides good quality atta, rice, dal and vegetables. Nonvegetarian items like chicken, fish are given thrice a week & paneer twice a week and Dhai 100 gram five days a week. Besides this, seasonal fruits are routinely given to patients and rice khir is given once a week to the patient. During evening tea either 50 gm ban /      2 slice of fruity / Rusk/ Biscuits is served along with tea. On the festival days separate menu is prepared.

Special Feasts

Special feasts are given to all patients during Holi, Durga Puja, Id, Christmas. Refreshments are provided to staff  and patients during Republic Day and Independence Day. Patients are allowed to observe fast etc. on different festive occasions such as Jansmastmi, Roja etc.

Canteen Facility

There is a full fledged canteen in the campus of the Institute near OPD where tea, snacks, meals, cold drinks etc are available on reasonable rates to the patients, their guardians & staff members. The canteen has been renovated. Separate kitchen, stores, selling counters and seating places have been built. Nescafe corner & Ice Cream Parlour have also started functioning.

Laundry

The institute has 200kg capacity Mechanical Laundry. Patients linen and clothes are collected and delivered at the ward itself.

Mineral Water Plant

The institute has one Mineral Water Plant having capacity of 1000 ltrs. per hour. Mineral Water is distributed to the wards in sealed container.

Bio-Medical Waste Management

The institute has one Oil fired Incinerator having capacity of 30 kg. per hour. This is open for disposal of Bio Medical Waste from Govt. / Private hospitals / Nursing Homes. Contract has been given to EnVison Enviro Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Surat for collection and Disposal of  Bio Medical Waste which has started functioning since 1st August 2005. Presently for the biomedical waste,  61 hospitals/nursing homes in and around Ranchi are availing this facility from our Incinerator.

DISTRICT MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMME (DMHP)

This institute is the nodal point for District Mental Health Programme at Dumka which has started psychiatric OPD services at Sadar Hospital, Dumka since February 2006. In addition DMHP Daltongaj and Gumla has started functioning from 2009.
